What we do
The challenge: First robotics competition
Under strict rules and limited time and resources, we are challenged to build industrial-sized robots to play a difficult field game in an alliance with other teams, while also fundraising to meet their goals, designing a team “brand,” and advancing respect and appreciation for STEM within the local community.
Every January, FIRST releases a new challenge. The team usually has 8 weeks until our first competition, during which we must:
brainstorm (learning from our experiences from previous years)
prototype
design (using Industrial CAD software such as SOLIDWORKS)
manufacture (with industrial machinery such as a CNC Router, laser cutter, and lathe)
assemble
program (using the programming language C++, the standard for applications such as robots)
tune (a variety of motors, sensors, etc.)
and train our drivers on our robot.
our accomplishments:
1771 is a member of the Peachtree (PCH) District (includes Georgia and South Carolina)
1771's performance has been greatly improving over the last few years, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
